Here is a home-made, but not by me step up using very old beyer-dynamic microphone trannys. Has sounded great with Lyra Delos and Denon 103 variants, but I found one I think is a better match for my new Ortofon. I paid $1,000 for it 10 years ago and you know these just get better with age. $325 obo. Buyer pays shipping and paypal. if you want to talk 859-866-0242

Does that device have a provision for the VPI anti-skate, or do you give up the mounting capability?

There is no rod to install the anti-skating device on. For what it's worth, VPI recommends not using anti-skate at all and I never found it to be necessary to use anyway.

Strat,

If I didn't already own and use this exact unit, I'd buy it in a heartbeat! Mine is on an HRX and sounds spectacular. At your reduced price it's a steal. Good luck with the sale.

Not to hijack the thread or start any more discussion on the anti-skate question, but since you brought it up, it's not that simple... I went without on my VPI Dynavector DV20X medium output cartridge because I couldn't really hear a difference with or without.

My new (to me) Ortofon MC90 however, tells me in no uncertain terms that it wants anti-skate! The sound seems to get grainier and harsher, especially on vocals, as the stylus progresses inward... Really noticeably on the inner two tracks. I set up the VPI anti-skate as some have suggested with three brass washers. Much improvement, although I'm not sure I'm all the way there. I really just want to listen to music, and it's so good, that I can put up with a little occasional distortion.

I hate to hypothesize, but I really feel that the "expensive" (to me) cartridge is much more revealing. It's got me wanting to try a higher tech method of setting azimuth to eliminate a little perceived sibilance and maximize performance.

Hello Guys, I have a Symposium Segue Iso. 24" X 19". This can hold a Prime or Avenger. Full disclosure over time the unit has a bow in it due to Avenger weight. I added additional Symposium spring to bottom recently. Due to nature of Symposium surface it also has scratches as you would expect from the type of surface. $300 shipped. PM or call 512-638-3866. I have used it to great effect with Prime and Avenger.
