New VPI Phono Cartridge

New VPI Phono Cartridge

Postby TCat » Sun Mar 24, 2019 10:34 pm

I saw on the Stereophile site this weekend, in John Atkinson’s coverage of the Montreal Audio Show, a picture of Mat Weisfeld at the show, and a mention of a VPI phono cartridge with serial number 000. Any further public word on this interesting development?

I believe someone else spotted it and asked Mat if it was a VAS or Grado and his response was 100% not VAS, so I'm not sure what that means? :?

One comment on FB from Oswaldo Martinez mentioned Miyajima.

JA actually said Miyajima. And that pic looks suspicious for the same.

I read that in the latest Stereophile also. Good for you VPI. I hope that this cartridge gets lots of accolades.

Keep up the good work,
Ed

Hey all, just got back from Montreal, having to drop dad off first it was a nice 8 hour drive yay! :D

Didn't have time to share any info. The prototype arrived Wednesday and we left on Thursday. We were supposed to announce and show it next month in Chicago so instead this was a bit of a teaser. it is all part of the 40th Celebration year! After the pro-type review and adjustments the plan is to have a limited 100 available. We don't have a solid price yet but it should be between 1,000 - 2,000 retail (I think thats where the report came up with 1,500).

Will keep all posted :)

I have a Zero and Kansui...This definitely has Miyajima blood lines....or is a cosmetic copycat!

Harry always has good things to say about Miyajima….That's my bet

I like that it is the Miajima DNA with some HW input/modifications. Long term I don't know or think this will be a continued product but we are excited to have 100 limited made for us for our Anniversary. 8-)

Good luck with the cart..... those rounded edges would make it difficult to set up.....
