RIP - Aretha Franklin

RIP - Aretha Franklin

Unless you've been under a rock somewhere, a premier artist, musical royalty has passed. Aretha Franklin, the Queen of Soul. I was surprised no one posted anything here (yet).

She was a major foundation of gospel, soul and r & b during most of our lives and influenced MANY musical artists.

Here is a song that influenced me as a teenaged boy, "*I* want a girl like THAT."

DeeCee,

Thank you for this beautiful memory, and reminder. Just one of the multitude of musical contributions Aretha delivered to our world. She was also a positive contributor to society, feeding the homeless, and many other actions to bring people together in our country, instead of creating divisions in our country. Aretha was about love!

My radio station, KMHD, played a few of Aretha's songs. I could not believe what I was hearing. Her cover of "Bridge over troubled water" was incredible. All the more special because she plays the piano.

And there's a video!

I'm going to be on the look out for her LPs.

KMHD was programmed into my tuner when I lived in Portland! 8-)
