VPI Classic 1 Turntable - Power Supply

VPI Classic 1 Turntable - Power Supply

Postby Laurie » Fri Jul 13, 2018 7:05 am

Hi peeps,

Seeking advice on a Classic turntable that is available from LP Gear in the US (see link below). I’m guessing it would come with a US IEC plug and I’d like to know if this can be easily changed to an Australian IEC for AUS power supply? Will the motor need replacing or anything else? What cost would be involved? What I do not want to do is use a conversion adaptor.

Obviously, I know nothing about electronics.

This model is no longer available in Australia and the exchange price is reasonable for this quality deck. I haven’t yet decided to buy as I may consider something else.

You will need to change the motor from a 110v/60hz to a 230/50hz along with the motor pulley. It's a relatively easy swap out.

Thanks so much brf, that answers my question. That will add to the cost putting this one out of contention. Perhaps the Prime Scout is the one to consider.

Thanks for the reply.
