Sad, but not unexpected.

In their hay day they were building literally tens of thousands of cartridges a day.

Their top of the line was highly regarded as a neutral, musical wonder and tracking wizard.

I have Shure test records from back in the day and few cartridges could match Shure performance on these tracks.

They moved offshore, cut costs, and started pretending that their $97 top of the line was an audiophile cartridge.

I’ve got one, but I run it with their 78N giant conical stylus on my Dual 1009SP. That’s my table for playing old 78 rpm shellacs. Can’t beat it there for the price.

I wish it were different, but Shure has been going out of the phono product business for the entire 21st a Century.

Yep. Heard about this weeks ago... Sad news. My very first cart was a Shure M91ED (although my heart belonged to the Shure V15 Type III at the time...)

That's too bad! I started using Shure Cartridges when I bought my first turntable and used them until I switched to Grado about 1978.

I still have my last Shure Cartridge, a V15 Type II, along with its original box. I used the V15 Type II on a Garrard Zero 100 and when I sold that turntable I kept the cartridge. The price tag on the box shows $45.00.
