I also have a glued mat on my V2. I recently purchased it as a demo from Music Direct. There is no mention of this in the description on VPI's nor MD's website. I was all set to use a Herbie's Way Excellent mat until I realized I can't remove this one. I tried and don't like the sound of the Herbie's mat used on top of this one. And there's an approximate 10% difference in VTF when using the 4mm Herbie's mat on top of the pre-installed one. I set my Hana SL to track at 2.2g without the Herbie's mat, and with it on the VTF measures ~2g. I've concluded the pre-installed mat is best left alone. Sounds great as-is.
