SPECIAL VAS NOVA/HW CARTRIDGE

Hi Harry,
I have an HW-19 MK3 and added a 10.5i tone arm.
Wonderful table both for performance, near zero detecible noise and superb sound. My Ortofon MC25fl cart is good (I don't have any comparative knowledge) but I'm wondering if I should invest in something better. I'm not the type or have the funds to try multiple carts so hoping to find - just the one.

Would you still suggest the VAS Nova for my application?

Thanks,
Jim

If you enjoy smooth, fast, clean, musical, and dynamic it is hard to beat the VAS/HW-NOVA. Best of all if anything happens, the cat jumps on the table and eats the cartridge, we can fix it without a 7000 mile trip. I can'r recommend it more highly as an overall great cartridge. Still the same price, $1200.00 with polished elliptical type, ebony body, .4 or .8 milli-volt output.

I was fortunate enough to pick up a Nova Special .4mV that I'll be mounting on my 10.5i tone arm.

From what I've gathered from reading through this thread, set up baseline would be 1.65 gm VTF, arm level to slightly raised to the back. I have a Phono preamp and just wondering what the suggested MC load Impedance setting should be? it looks like I can select between 28.6 - 600 ohm.

Thanks.

I use 397 ohm setting on my Chinook... with the 0.8 mV Nova special.

Thanks Madrac.
I've read a few past recommendations as high as 500 ohms and wondered if that was correct? Quite a difference from the 0.8 to 0.4 mV....? I guess no harm in just messing around with various levels...
