There is no answer to this sonically as it is personal and system dependent but it is interesting you chose:

#3 - APPROX> $12K
#1 - APPROX> $5k
#2 - APPROX> $1K

The best for you was also the most expensive.

LMAO! Oh that's funny. Let no one claim that my ears are junk! :P

I wonder how much also comes down to loading and preamp and/or tonearm synergy. Small changes can have huge impact on the sound with the same cartridge. I know a couple of people using AT ART-9 cartridges, and without something to roll off the highs (often specific tubes), those suckers can get nastily bright. When tamed, they're superb. So who knows, maybe there's some magic to get the 1K or 5K cart singing as nicely as that 12K one. *shrug*

Very true. Levels were matched exactly using the CBS Test Record so any level difference is a dynamic range thing. Loading was set as per manufacturers recommendation. But the end result is still system dependent and a $1200 cartridge in the right system sounds absolutely amazing.

I finally had a chance to listen. Files played directly out of the WeTrasfer iOS app on my iPhone X, through a DragonFly Black USB DAC to my Etymotic IEMs.

I had already read the previous posts so decided to listen to #2 first. I thought it sounded fine and likely could have lived with it. However listening to #1 I heard a significant improvement in detail, separation and top-end 'air'. Then finally listened to #3 and heard a small improvement over #1.

Are you going to reveal the cart names Harry? Seems like I could be interested in buying #1!
