Also have on the way and I'm also in Canada. Agree with what you say about Wayne. I'll also post my thoughts when the SS-2 ring arrives and will post further thoughts on the sound when my cart is back from SoundSmith (4 - 6 weeks?).

I've owned the lighter TTW weights ring and an early VPI ring. I prefer the VPI ring to the TTW weights ring (since sold) as I find the VPI ring fits/holds the record better, but am looking forward to trying the SS-2 3.8lb Wayne Audio ring.

Just wondering what people paid for their rings? Seems the 'make an offer' option is open.

I'm looking at both the VPI ring and the Wayne's ring. Would be interested in hearing opinions on pros/cons from anyone who has tried both.

I don't own a Wayne's ring but I own a TTW ring which is very similar. For all round use, I prefer the VPI ring for 3 reasons a) ease of use b) it does a better job and removing warps due to its increased mass and c) when not in used it can hang on the platter's shoulder notch to provide more platter mass for increased speed stability. On non-warped records, both rings sound similar but I would give the nod to the VPI. The only downside I can think of the VPI is that it is not a universal ring and cannot be used on other table's platter or non 12" VPI platters. I guess this would only be a concern for users with more than one table.

Periphery rings are very expensive and very difficult to make.

Thanks, BRF and 10ovr...

Could one of you let me know the outside diameter and thickness of the ring, although one or both dimensions may have changed over the years as it appears from internet search that the weight of the ring may have changed?

Hi, Brent.

Yes, I saw that but says no longer available.

However, I've got a lead on another used one (2004 vintage) but at a slightly higher price point.

Best regards
