Subjective Opinions on Cart Match for Rock/Blues

Hi All-

UPDATE: After spending a couple months over 3-4 different forums I finally decided on a cartridge. I have it in hand now and the transaction was as smooth as could be. I bought a brand new never been opened Sumiko Blackbird HOMC from eBay, from Hong Kong, for $888.00 USD included free S/H. I got it in just a couple days wrapped like you wouldn't believe- inside 3 boxes and each wrapped in bubble wrap & shredded paper- you could play football with it without a worry. The seller (2juki) sent me an email stating the value was listed way low (& not to worry) but that was to sail through customs & that it did. Upon inspection the cart looks perfect, all original packaging & never opened.

I felt I was taking a chance on this but I had the time if things went awry, also it was covered by ebay & PayPal should something happen. I looked everywhere for a deal and could only find new for $1250, no one would drop the price and the couple used I found were asking close enough to this "new" price that it wasn't worth chancing used. I really think with my system this was the best cart available for me and my preamp. I'm able to have a few choices in loading this HOMC with my preamp compared to all others in contention.

Anyway, happy with the cart and deal I got and still busy getting all ready for the Prime, probably another few weeks before I see it but I'll have things ready and new tools to set it up. 2juki while an irritant to many manufacturers has a very solid reputation with his clients from what I have seen. Nearly perfect feedback on over 11,000 eBay feedbacks. I have been tempted a few times myself. Congrats. Sure you will enjoy your new cartridge...

To those more knowledgeable than I, please tell me if I'm calculating resonant frequency correctly, and what other factors might be involved in proper cartridge / tonearm matching? As you will see below I'm trying to compare what I have now VS. a few AT carts.

VPI JMW 9 Metal Arm effective mass: http://www.vpiindustries.com/tonearms
10.2 g (Scout table)

Ortofon 2M Bronze (baseline, what I have now): https://www.ortofon.com/ortofon-2m-bronze-p-325
Compliance, dyinamic, lateral - 22 µm/mN
Cartridge weight: 7.2 g
Assuming Ortofon's compliance measurement is at 100Hz, the following chart https://www.vinylengine.com/cartridge_resonance_evaluator.php?eff_mass=10.2&submit=Submit places the resonant frequency around 7 Hz. Too low.
I.E., convert compliance at 100Hz to 10Hz: (22 µm/mN @ 100 Hz * 1.5) = 33 µm/mN @ 10 Hz.

Audio Technica AT33SA: https://eu.audio-technica.com/hifi-phono/cartridges/AT33Sa
Dynamic compliance at 100Hz: 10x10-6cm/dyne
Cartridge weight: 6.9 g
This places resonant frequency at 10 Hz. Very good.

Audio Technica AT33PTG/II: https://eu.audio-technica.com/hifi-phono/cartridges/AT33PTGII
Same compliance as AT33SA. (would welcome comments on the mircoline vs. shibata stylus that seems to be the difference between these two, other than PTG/II being half the cost of 33SA!).

Auto Technica AT-ART9: https://eu.audio-technica.com/hifi-phono/cartridges/AT-ART9
Dynamic compliance at 100Hz: 18x10-6cm/dyne
Cartridge weight: 8.5 g
This places resonant frequency at 7 Hz. Too low.
