VPI Scout 1.1 Issue w/ 45RPM

Postby drewvandal » Wed Sep 13, 2017 2:19 pm

Hi Everyone,

I have been having issues trying to play a record @ 45RPM this afternoon. When I turn the motor on the belt re-positions itself up the 33RPM placement even after I have put it lower where I normally do for playing 45's.

I'd appreciate any advice.

When you reposition the belt does that include moving it on the platter? Normally just moving it on the pulley should be sufficient to get the belt to realign itself on the platter, perhaps it is caught in a groove on the platter? This assumes you have a platter with grooves in the side, if there are no grooves in the platter side the belt should move freely to align with the pulley. Another thing to check is if the belt tension is correct. I tend to think this behavior could be a result of too little tension so you could move the motor slightly further away from the table. If you do move the motor you could change the speed slightly so you will need to check the speed with a strobe disc. One last thing, perhaps the belt is worn out and needs replacing.

Give the platter a little push when starting out in 45rpm mode
