Can anyone let me have the recommendation from VPI for use of their 16.5 RCM machine? I just want the record cleaning process ie how many fluid applications and how olong to vaccum etc.

You can find the 16.5 manual here: http://docs.wixstatic.com/ugd/5e0564_83 ... 89280f.pdf

It's not real specific.

How I do it:

New Record:
First using Mofi Deep Cleaner, scrub with a dedicated brush for about 3 to 4 revolutions and vacuum for 2 revolutions after all the standing liquid is drawn up (this is my standard vacuum cycle).
Next using Mofi Super Record Wash, scrub with another dedicated brush for 2 to 3 revolutions and then standard vacuum.
Finally, rinse with distilled water and a new brush and a vacuum cycle with a separate pickup tube.

Used Record:
Use Mofi Enzyme Cleaner and using a dedicated brush get the entire record surface soaked with cleaner and let stand at least 5 minutes. Standard vacuum cycle.
Follow the New Record cleaning process.

Previously cleaned but needing a quick wash:
Same as the new record, but leaving out the 1st step with the Deep Cleaner.

The brushes I use are the Mofi Velvet pad/brushes.

Hummer,

I've had my 16.5 for about 10 years now and during that time I have been using this formula for about 6 of those 10 years.

All of the stuff needed is obtainable through Amazon and B&H photo. The solution is great and I use it on both heavily soiled and new records.

It is also alot cheaper to make this solution that it is buying the ready made or concentrate versions.

Regards,
Erik
