I met Vinnie at Bill Parish’s house/studio a couple years ago, and over cigars and beer, listened to his electronics through several different YG speakers. His preamplifier, in particular, sounded very natural and, I remember, absolutely free of noise. We also listened to a couple of Audionet preamps, which are not well known in the US, but are pretty stiff competition for anything around. I’m pretty sure I preferred Vinnie’s preamp, but bought an Audionet, probably because the latter was solid state, and I was down on tubes at the time. It’s hard for me to recall the sonics in detail now. I do recall that I was impressed. More importantly, Bill was impressed, and he has an extremely good ear. Vinnie is cool and very smart. His electronics incorporate unique elements that give them a signature quality. I wish I could be more specific here, but my overall recollection is that Vinnie’s products are special and should definitely be auditioned. Rich

@gene9p, if you haven't already you may wish to go on to the Audiocircle site and check out Vinnie's manufacturer's forum. You may find comments from current owners of these products. I've also heard Vinnie's stuff at shows. He favors using Harbeth speakers with his demos. It's always a good sounding room.

Thanks, I have been a member there for a few years now. Yes his rooms with harbeth speakers always sound great and get top reviews. Just curious if anyone here uses his products. Some big changes coming and with accepting trades, some very nice gear will be available at reduced prices with 5 year warranties. Right now I believe there are some VR 120 amps available and Vinnie told me in 4-6 weeks there will be some nice LIO's being resold.

I own Harbeth speakers and the show reports often give high praise to them paired with the LIO. I am always looking at potential new amplification due to the old age of my Krell amps. I note that the LIO are not very powerful and Alan Shaw of Harbeth is a proponent of high power amplification so that seems odd but you can't argue with success. I would love to hear them in my system...

I have been using LIO for more than two years, and very pleased with it sounds and service that Vinnie provided.

LIO provides the Pre amp, Dac, Phonostage and Power amp all in one function, however, I mainly use its Pre / Dac / Phonostage and connecting it to my Goldmund amp to drive my B&W 800 D2 speakers.

Why I add LIO as a pre amp in addition to my Goldmund Mimesi 24 / Telos 600 , because it provides a warm tube sound into the system, which I like.

The Dac modeule has been upgrade to version 2 last year, and the improvement was quite significant, the good thing was I could trade in my old modeule for a most update one with a very good price.

When I first bought pre-owned VPI Areis 3 / Dynavector Xvs-1 in early 2017, I connected to LIO Phono MC, the sound was much better than I expected, however, after 6 months I added a BOB SUT in between in order to get louder output, which made me very very happy with the system.

The service that Vinnie providing is excellent, he has been repling my every email within 1 to 2 days, and responsing quite frequent on the forum. I had an experience with an issue with a modeule ... I dropped him an email and he shipped a new module within 10 days to Australia, the replacement work was simple and did not take more than 15 minutes, after that what I needed was to send the old module back to Vinnie.

I always recommend LIO without reservastation

excellent to hear!!!

I have been attracted to the LIO since I first saw it at the NY Audio show a few yeas ago. I would prefer to use it as a preamp also. I don't think I would want to trade off My Manley Chinook or my Bryston DAC either but you never know. ..LOL..Sometimes I think it would be nice to settle down with a nice integrated or in this case and LIO and my Mac amp. I had an LFD LE IV for a few months which sounded very nice but too much static electricity in my room created an issue with the manual controls. Even a good wrist strap still had me "sparky".. :D

there is a new Phono module coming that allows changing load and gain on the fly via the remote.....big bucks for it

Vinnie contacted me last night and made such a great offer on an LIO and lots of modules that I said yes. Kept it simple at this moment. AVC tube stage, xlr in puts and outputs, Hard to say no to the prices on the phono, 895, and dac ,495 .I have such good ones that I want to keep them but I know I can add later on at anytime which is so kool. I plan to use it with my Mac MC 152 amp.

The LIO is an all silver one, not shown on the website, new tubes, 30 day return, FULL 10 YEAR WARRANTY. I have several tubes I can swap out later on should I feel the urge to roll.
The cost..3k plus shipping..add 200 for the balanced connections. Total is 3250 shipped for the trade in compared to 5685 plus shipping new. Same options return policy and warranty as new.
My gear is all black but at his price I can make an exception.

The all silver LIO arrived today.I will take some better photos later. The brand new stock tubes were kind of harsh, so in went the 6922 from my Manley Chinook that have been sitting here since installing the Genalex tubes. Huge difference! Hard to compare it just yet with the Mac C220 with all its inputs and features but as far as music the LIO has quite a wow factor in home.It certainly brings out the best in the Harbeths. This is the best they have sounded. It' is beautifully built and so easy to access and add or remove modules assuming you are not afraid to try. Yeah, I wanted a black one but the deal was on the silver trade in so that's the only con I can come up with. Cd's , tuner sound great, my TT with the new HW Vas Nova seems very happy too!! I plan to try the Genalex tubes and my Amperex tubes over the coming days/weeks. I will continue to update. Quite a battle here and the challenger has landed some big early blows.
