Experimenting with O-Rings

Has anyone tried experimenting with o-rings on unused indents on the aluminum platter or on the motor pulley? Similar to o-rings used on the periphery ring, could you get the same effect by putting o-rings around the platter?

I have an HRX pulley with 3 belts. I had a custom o-ring made (fused) to fit nicely on the top groove on the platter. Just to help dampen the platter a bit. Looks nice as well having a belt/o-ring on every other groove.
