I picked up the soundtrack on vinyl lp..WOW. I had the mp3 download for awhile and thought that was good until last night. It is just incredible.I left in the NOS tubes for some of the older Jazz lps I recently posted. I had no clue the Harbeth 7's could play such deep bass. This 2 lp set delivers the goods. Very haunting, eerie, and so detailed.Dare I put back in my regular tubes!!!..lol

McCoy Tyner - Horizon

Image

McCoy Tyner - Piano
John Blake - Violin
Joe Ford - Flute, Soprano Saxophone, Alto Saxophone
George Adams - Flute, Tenor Saxophone
Al Foster - Drums
Guilherme Franco - Congas, Percussion

This is not McCoy's usual crew, but McCoy is always McCoy, and if you are not a master on your instrument, you will not be recording with McCoy.

dizzio,

For Trident you get a big "Wow", 2 thumbs, and 2 big toes up. McCoy with Ron Carter and Elvin Jones. I love the intensity of the Trident LP, and I am a huge McCoy Tyner fan, period! No one attacks the keyboard like McCoy.

Saw McCoy Tyner not too long ago at the Blue Note in NYC. He had to be helped onto the stage, but when he started to play, it was amazing. He was young an vibrant. Unforgettable.

Yes and I enjoyed his use of the harpsichord and celeste. Something you don’t see everyday.

I wish I was fortunate enough to live in an area where I could see some great jazz concerts. All the greats are dead or dying off fast.

Going further OT, but I saw Brubeck in the mid-2000s when he was I think 84 or so. Like Tyner, as soon as he sat at the keyboard it was like the entire building had been sent back in a time machine. Most of his band members were almost as old as him, but it was probably the sharpest, cleanest, most energetic and b@lls out performance I'd seen. I was honored to have been there.
