A lovely performance and recording. By the way, Pelliccia plays viola, not violin on this recording.

One of my all-time favorite records. The acoustics of Watford Town Hall lend a rich beauty to the music.

It's interesting that there is a totally different cover for that album.

WntrMute,

Your Cobblestone Records release, CST9011, is the earlier original release. The copy I posted is by Muse Records, MR5132.
The following information on Muse was taken from the w.w.w.. "Muse Records was an American jazz label, founded in 1972 by Joe Fields, who had previously worked as an executive for Prestige Records. Muse released over 500 LPs during its lifespan, most of them original recordings, but also reissues of albums that had been released on other labels before, like Cobblestone Records." (End of w.w.w. information)
I have no idea which is the better pressing.

I usually default to the original pressing if I have that. That said I m a big fan of Muse Records. I pick them up anytime I run across them even knowing nothing about the artist. I've found some great jazz on Muse!

I'm willing to bet no one has this one. I must confess to a little cheating. This is Betty Carter's last recording, and unfortunately it never made it to a vinyl pressing, but is a wonderful CD and collection of songs. I'm changing apartments and the HRX is in it's box, sleeping for a couple of days until I recover from moving, and have the energy to set it up again. Fortunate to have a very good CD machine for times such as this, and others when the music is only available on a silver disc. I am a devoted Betty Carter lover, make no mistake about it. Her voice, her delivery, her emotions and arrangements are in a special category, as well as the musicians she chooses for her recordings. This collection is perfect for late listening, only 7 songs on this CD, but I love to hear Betty sing at any time, day or night.

Betty Carter - Vocals
Curtis Lundy - Bass
Gregory Hutchinson - Drums
Xavier Davis - Piano
Mark Shim - Tenor Saxophone
Andre Hayward - Trombone
Matt Hughes - Bass

Music is a moral law. It gives soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and charm and gaiety to life and to everything. - Plato

Haven't listened yet. Read a good review. I have a free digital download. First PM gets it.
