The 50th anniversary remaster THE BEATLES WHITE ALBUM

incredibly good yet so different than the original. A must own. I can only imagine how the half speed 4 lp set sounds. Thanks to B&N I walked out the door with this for 26 bucks. A little more bravery on my part and I could have gotten the Box half speed set for 68 bucks plus tax. Only listened to LP1 ..cannot wait to get back home to listen to LP2!

Finally
Betty Carter - Vocals
Norman Grantz - Piano
Lyle Atkinson - Bass
Al Harewood - Drums

Betty Carter was a very special Jazz vocalist, and will always be considered a unique talent among the very elite list of female Jazz vocalists in my book. That litany includes, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughn. Nina Simone, and Dinah Washington. Her phrasing, tonal range, vocal strength, and ability to "scat" place her in this elite group. After having trouble getting recording contracts, she eventually started her own record company, BetCar. During the Christmas Holiday season you may here one of her recordings with Ray Charles, "Baby It's Cold Outside", which is hardly a hint of the strength of her total work as a vocalist. Needless to say, I love Betty Carter's work, and why I can't resist posting here almost every time I play a Betty Carter LP.
