The cartridge in its origin is HW style. Fan of Miyajima cartridges, HW has always appreciated the warmth and "romantic" sound of Miyajima. We are close friends with the distributor Robin Wyatt and a conversation between two passionate audiophiles led to a pretty exciting idea. Miyajima doesnt do OEM but they did this one for Harry.

This cartridge is a great stepping stone into the Miyajima line of cartridges. To this day we still recommend their Zero as the best mono cartridge out there.

Based off the Takumi Stereo
The sound of Takumi is clear and soft. This is a very usable cartridge that is a good match to most arms. At HW's request it is a threaded body, and medium output.

I’ve heard it at VPI House a couple of times. It is as Mat described. It doesn’t “blunt” transients but it is a liquid, warm, gorgeous sound. One time while listening, HW decided to switch to the Lyra Atlas after we heard this cart. He swapped it out for the Atlas (I’ve said this before - watching HW pull a cart and pop a new one in really is something, it takes about 4 minutes and it comes out perfectly!), and when we played the same record the difference was stark. The Atlas is more energetic, faster, but potentially almost ruthless in pulling information off the groove. It’d be hard to say that it was universally better than this HW Limited. Different is probably a better way to look at it. I’d say the choice would have more to do with how the rest of your system sounds. If it leans to the aggressive side, this might be a better choice over the Atlas. But then if this is the kind of sound needed I’d also recommend a Benz LP-S. Just my 2 cents.
