Looks like VPI listened to comments and made both the top and bottom rosewood....This is a stunner! Currently highlighted in Soundstage's recent email.

What a great looking turntable! A friend who lives a few minutes from me has one shipping out next week. Can't wait to see/hear one in person.

Is it a Rosewood "wrap", Rosewood veneer, or solid Rosewood? Plus, I thought Rosewood was a protected species and can n o longer be imported into the USA

If it is solid Rosewood, the $800 up charge from the Signature is a bargain. Good bye glossy black painted particle board.

I am going to go out on a limb and say this is the real deal...Reason being that if you do a Google Image search for VPI Prime Rosewood there a number of different tables and all of them have different grain patterns..If they were a manufactured finish they would all be identical..You can also see that the wood is solid because there are pictures of the top and bottom of the sections ....So I am 99% sure these are the real deal based on what I see in the pictures....

It's real, but it's what ever Rosewood is legal. I believe Mat filled us in somewhere about it, it might have been on FaceBook.

Hey all, just hoping on here to make sure we don't have any confusion on this. The rosewood is NOT a vinyl wrap. It is a rosewood... Italians Rosewood (to be specific and before anyone gets nervous about the endangered species :p ) rosewood veneer. So it is a combination of the same material used on a standard Prime Signature and the rosewood veneer. Solid wood would never work because of the warming and inconsistencies of the gran.

Also... if it was solid rosewood than the up-charge would be like triple the price! :x

Whomever is doing your veneer work is a pro.....and you are 100% correct about solid hard wood being an issue...It expands and shrinks over time and can become a real problem..I personally learned this the hard way on a very expensive custom plinth I once had made for me out of Gabon Ebony and Quilted Maple. Your approach on this is 100% and really beautiful!

It is absolutely beautiful in person -- I saw one last week at VPI. Thanks again, Mat, for the tour...
