So I am new to the forum and need opinions. Which Scout, a Scoutmaster with no arm and acrilic platter for around $1000 or a Scout with a JMW memorial arm and acrilic platter for $1600? Oh and a Scoutmaster 11 for $2000 w/ JWM arm.

A used Scout at $1600 is too high. A Scoutmaster without an arm, you'll end up spending more than if you bought it with an arm. There's a Classic on Audiogon for $1700, that's a better choice than the three mentioned.

Well I am going to get the classic 1 that's on audiogon , it has a 10 1/2 JMW arm? So what mm cart would be good for this arm? Would my Stanton 681 eee work? Thank you

While I have no experience with the Stanton, it's a medium compliance cartridge so it should work no problem. At 6.3gms you might need a head shell weight. It'll be close.

The most popular MM/MI on the Classic is the 2M Black and VPI Zephyr.

I'm a Grado fan but they are not happy on the front mounted motor Classic, you would need the newer rear mounted motor.

So to you who steered me in the right direction thank you. The Classic 1 with the Zypher sounds great. So my system is a new Dynaco st 70 that my friend built for me, a Adcom gtp 450 to a nad pp2e Klipsch Lascalas that I got cheap and rebuilt and of course the classic 1. My LP's from 1974 on up sound like they have more music in them if thats possable.

mrpee,

Congrat's on completing a sweet vinyl playback system to support the output of your Classic table. Classic tubes with the St70, and the even sweeter classic pair of LaScalas horns. Please post a photo or two when you have time.
