audio research trade in to trade up

Hi guys ,

I just got this newsletter from ARC. Almost all models are qualified except for the early transistor models and the big monoblocks REF 300, 600, 610T and 750 T . But it's for a limited time only . I wonder why they're doing this ? McIntosh is also offering this program as well. I'm wondering what they will do once they get the old units ? Refurbish them and sell them again ?

The last thing equipment manufacturers want is for you to be satisfied with the gear you have. If they weren't coming out on top they wouldn't be offering this. Toyota is hounding me right now to trade in my 2015 Tundra because they say they have a shortage of these to sell used. Yeah right.

Actually it's true with Toyota ,,A good friend has worked for Toyota for 30+ ,,Just traded in my 2005 Toy reg cab ,,70k miles,,Cracked windshield ,Bald tires and a lot of dents and they gave 8k trade in on it,,It was resold and gone before I got off the lot with my new truck,,,Now about ARC,, I have a call in to a dealer about trading in my PH8 ,,I payed 4k new for it,,Lets see what they offer ??? Would like to move up too the

Hi guys ,

Thanks for the replies and comments. I was thinking about the owners of vintage ARC Products like the SP3's because if they want to trade in for a BN ARC PREAMP , if they based the price from its retail in 1973 then minus 25- 35% depreciation , the dealers are getting a great deal . The SP3 is more expensive now than when they were new. Its like trading in a 63 Ferrari GTO for a La Ferrari or a 71 Dodge Callenger Covertible Hemi for the new Dodge Challenger Hellcat . Although this analogy is exaggerated and no owner of these kind of cars will do such a thing.

the owner can always say no. i don't think there is any trickery per se, but they need to keep the units moving. no better group of potential buyers than current owners. there is also a very strong market for used ARC gear, so they will make out well when it is flipped. good business in my opinion.
