Adjusting VTA on a Classic 3

Adjusting VTA on a Classic 3

Postby Rockyboy » Mon Mar 26, 2018 4:08 pm

My cartridge setup was done by a professional. However, I've just changed TT mats and want to adjust VTA, if necessary. I see the knob with its numbered scale and the locking screw. But the owner's manual states that "the arm has TWO thumbscrews for locking the VTA setting". Can someone please explain where the second thumbscrew is? Also, (embarrassed to ask) can I expect to make a partial turn from say 70 to 75 or could I potentially need to make one or more complete turns? John

the other locking knob is to the right of the tonearm just below the tonearm hook/clamp. I believe that I measured a vertical change of about 0.75 or 0.8mm for each complete turn (360 degrees) of the scaled knob .

Thanks Steveo. Yep, right in plain view. I think the owners manual should have had a picture with a couple arrows pointing to both screws. Appreciate your help.

Change the height of the VTA tower by the difference between the thickness of the old and new mat to achieve the same SRA.
