Stylus gutter ball of sorts :-(

Stylus gutter ball of sorts :-(

Postby tony22 » Sat Dec 02, 2017 9:10 pm

I don't think I did any damage, sure doesn't sound like it, but I dropped the cart on the lead in groove of a new record to hear it riding in between the outer edge and the periphery ring. Is this pretty much a certain death sentence? It sounds fine - after of course I jumped back to the table and raised the arm. It rode in the gutter for 2-3 seconds maybe.

I did that a couple of times myself. If the stylus looks and plays normal, I would just relax and enjoy.

I guess I'm okay. Three enjoyable albums last evening and everything sounded sublime. :)

No worrries friend. Remember that even though tiny in our case, a diamond is still a diamond. As long as the cantilever is centered and straight you are fine.
