SDS Repair

Postby rodman99999 » Sun Nov 05, 2017 10:56 am

Has anyone had any hands-on experience with a failed SDS? Readouts and front panel functions working, I can measure 72 V at the output, but my SAMA doesn't even attempt to start(with the belt off). Fuses are good and table turns fine, plugged into the wall. I haven't opened it up yet. Just wondering what to look for, or test first, when I do(a head start).

The SDS provides both voltage and a defined line frequency to the motor. Since your motor works fine when plugged directly into a wall socket, it would appear the fault lies within the SDS. I would send the unit back to VPI for assessment and/or repair.

Let me rephrase my question:  Has anyone had any hands-on experience REPAIRING a failed SDS?

I haven't opened it up yet. Just wondering what to look for, or test first, WHEN I DO(a head start).

Glad I tested it. The problem was at the recessed outlet. Simple fix(WHEW)!
