VPI Traveler / Grado Gold not "level"

VPI Traveler / Grado Gold not "level"

Postby jmpatrick » Sat Sep 09, 2017 8:28 am

I was taking a photo this morning and noticed that the Grado Gold on my VPI Traveler doesn't contact the record level. Is this normal? I don't see an adjustment for this.

Does your tonearm base have a threaded collar which would allow you to raise the back end of the tonearm?

Yes. That adjusts the VTA, correct?

Is it not level side-to-side or front-to-back? Hard to tell in that photo but it looks like it might be a bit of both.

Unfortunately, the Traveler tonearm does not have a user adjustable azimuth. I cannot tell from the picture if the cartridge headshell is level with the platter. If not, you will need to send the arm back to VPI for adjustment. Sometimes the bonding agent that is used to secure the headshell to the arm tube shifts.

Side to side, left to right. I'm able to adjust the VTA. This issue seems to be the adjustment of the azimuth.
