Hello VPI Family,

This post is here to help out both new and old members of the forums. We are collaborating with the moderators to help smooth out the process of looking for information on the forums. Below are some frequently asked questions and the answer or thread to find the answer.

Here is the forum's thread: http://vpiforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=6798

Where can I find the manual for my _________ ?
Here is a list of most of the manuals: http://www.vpiindustries.com/manuals
For all other manuals please contact manuals@vpiindustries.com

My VPI product is out of production. How can I get replacement parts?
My first suggestion is to contact one of our dealers (http://www.vpiindustries.com/dealership) and see if they have the part in stock. Most of the parts on the newer tables will work with the older tables.

Which version is my 10 inch arm do I have?
Here is a thread that does great job with explaining the differences: http://vpiforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=4380&p=9021

Why did my table not come with a black washer as mentioned in the manual?
If your table comes with an HR-X Center Weight you would not need a black washer. The washer is designed to be used with reflex (screw down) clamps only.

I've had my table for about a year now, what maintenance does it require?
Here is a post from Brf that sums it it perfectly!
Brf wrote:Below is my annual maintenance procedure.

1) Clean and re-lube the main bearing with lithium PTFE grease. Use a Q-tip dipped in alcohol to clean out the old grease. Check the ball bearing tip for any flat spots. Apply a small amount of lithium grease on the ball bearing (see picture below)
2) Place one drop of light weight oil below the brass collar on the motor shaft - If your motor is running quiet, I would not concern myself with lubricating the motor shaft. To do it correctly, requires removing/adjusting the brass motor collar which can be tricky.
3) Place the o-ring drive belt into boiling water for 20 seconds
4) Clean the phono rca and ground connections
5) Clean the cartridge pin connectors
6) Check the table for level
7) Check the table for correct speed

See the picture below for the correct amount of lithium grease.

1) Clean the aluminum platter with a metal polish
Below are some tips for maintaining the brilliant shine of the Classic platter.

For finger prints, just use a mild soap and water. For really soiled finger prints, use 50%/50% water and vinegar and a bit of baking soda (natural degreaser), or you can purchase an environmental friendly cleaner like Pledge multi-surface 99% natural.

For plinth care, use mild soap and water or an environmentally green cleaning product that suitable for painted surfaces that DOES NOT leave a residue as it will only attract dust.

Stay away from products containing the following:

1) Ammonia (Windex) - because it can mottle and pit the surface,
2) Alkalis; - using these will cause discoloration,
3) Chlorine bleach - will corrode and discolor aluminum

Also, stay away from most stainless steel cleaners as they will leave a citrus based residue.

Semi-annual Maintenance or as needed:

Raw aluminum will tarnish when exposed to the environment, therefore, to restore the Classic platter back to its original brilliant shine, use a high quality metal polish along with a good supply of micro fiber polishing cloths.

I've been using Mothers Aluminum and Mag polish with excellent results.
