Prime Arm Lift: Is This Broken?

Prime Arm Lift: Is This Broken?

Postby bhjazz » Sat Oct 17, 2020 9:16 pm

So I'm working on my Fall Prime maintenance this weekend, and was going to clean out and re-silicone the lift mechanism. Once removed, I noticed the underside was very sticky. While cleaning it, the plastic cover came off. This explains the stickiness.

Is this correct or do I need to order another lift?

Thanks!

The newer lifters do not have a bottom cover. In any case, the silicone fluid is held inside the lift mechanism by capillary action. Clean out the old stuff, squeeze in the new stuff. I actually like using thicker silicone so you have time to get back to your listening position before the music starts. YMMV.

thanks, edw. Seems like a simple enough job. I imagine getting it back into it's spot on the arm mount will be harder than the actual clean out maintenance. :)
