Yes, you will need a single motor rim drive which is no longer made and very hard to find used. Not sure if the new Avengers rim drive will work with the Aries 3's motor cut out.

Not to sound foolish, but what are the three "round" devices on top of the plinth, right next to the platter?

Cool looking deck!

The rim drive platter of the OP looks different from my belt drive platter with grooves.

First generation Classics platters did not have side wall grooves which makes them perfect for rim drive use. Side wall groove platters can also be used with a rim drive.

Hello guys,

Not to sound foolish, but what are the three "round" devices on top of the plinth, right next to the platter?

They are products of my manufacture in Brazil, Magic Block of Magis Audio.

We manufacture more than 30 products for analog audio, among them these blocks to prevent spurious vibrations, and, silicone straps, electric filters, acoustic panels, etc.

At this point the new ADS will arrive to replace the SDS, I do not know if the rotation can be controlled in a correct way or if I have to subsist the pulley.
