Just ordered, through my dealer, a FatBoy for my beloved HRX today. Can't wait to receive it! :D

Did you end up trading in your 12.7 metal arm? Did you get more than $500 as previously reported? Let us know what you think of the new arm.

Very interested to hear how you like it, and how it compares to your current arm.
Should be a noticeable upgrade. Enjoy!

Just like Matt promised I ended up having a trade up of $1350 which is a really great incentive! I love VPI!!
I will post my comments about the Fatboy as soon as I receive and install it. I have no idea how long it will take to receive it... but I know i'm excited!

I guess I missed the announcement but I see that VPI is now producing the 10" Fatboy. Does anyone have one and would care to comment on the sound?

Yes, it will be a two parter. Part 1 being the Fuuga plus Fatboy review and Part 2 the Fatboy with the Atlas and maybe vdh Master Signature cartridges.

Reason had to do it that way was the Fuuga can only be reviewed in the Fatboy because of its weight and compliance. So rather than doing the Atlas, then Fuuga, then Atlas again, decided to do the Fuuga review first. But won’t totally know what the arm sounds like until return my reference cartridge. And there have been little glitches along the way in part due to the Fuuga’s weight and finding the right counterweight. One that can give the right tracking force as well as properly load the dual pivot.

That said, the Fatboy is damn good because the Fuuga is really singing in the system. Great cartridge that bears comparison to the best out there.

Am I right in assuming that the Fat Boy would be a better match for heavier, relatively lower compliance MC cartridges? I'm using a LOMC (AT ART-7) on my original 12" 3D arm and it sings wonderfully - even though its compliance is relatively high for a MC cart...
