Stylus stuck in the groove.

Stylus stuck in the groove.

Postby WeatherB » Thu Aug 24, 2017 6:49 pm

The last few weeks I have noticed that the stylus on my Prime (Ortofon 2M Black) will often get stuck in a groove, repeating that one revolution on the platter until I lift the arm. This seems to happen most often on the grooves on the inner half or so of the record. Has anyone else had this problem before?

Check for the following:

Proper tracking force
Table/platter is level
The pivot spike is sharp and straight without any burrs
Gently swing the arm horizontally to feel for any impediments
Make sure the lemo wire creates a gentle arc and is not tightly twisted
If using the anti-skating device, make the fishing line is not catching on anything.

You mite also check that you have a gap between the tonearm lift and the tone arm <Seems the new lifts don't go down all the way sometimes ,,,
